Reduced Heteroscedasticity Linear Regression for Nyström Approximation

The Nyström method is a well known sampling based low-rank matrix approximation approach. It is usually considered to be originated from the numerical treatment of integral equations and eigendecomposition of matrices. In this paper, we present a novel point of view for the Nyström approximation. We show that theoretically the Nyström method can be regraded as a set of pointwise ordinary least ...

Correcting for Heteroscedasticity with Heteroscedasticity Consistent Standard Errors in the Linear Regression Model: Small Sample Considerations

In the presence of heteroscedasticity, OLS estimates are unbiased, but the usual tests of significance are inconsistent. However, tests based on a heteroscedasticity consistent covariance matrix (HCCM) are consistent. While most applications using a HCCM appear to be based on the asymptotic version of the HCCM, there are three additional, relatively unknown, small sample versions of the HCCM th...

Robust Estimation in Linear Regression with Molticollinearity and Sparse Models

‎One of the factors affecting the statistical analysis of the data is the presence of outliers‎. ‎The methods which are not affected by the outliers are called robust methods‎. ‎Robust regression methods are robust estimation methods of regression model parameters in the presence of outliers‎. ‎Besides outliers‎, ‎the linear dependency of regressor variables‎, ‎which is called multicollinearity...

On Heteroscedasticity in Robust Regression

This work studies the phenomenon of heteroscedasticity and its consequences for various methods of linear regression, including the least squares, least weighted squares and regression quantiles. We focus on hypothesis tests for these regression methods. The new approach consists in deriving asymptotic heteroscedasticity tests for robust regression, which are asymptotically equivalent to standa...

Likelihood and Parametric Heteroscedasticity in Normal Connected Linear Models

A linear model in which the mean vector and covariance matrix depend on the same parameters is connected. Limit results for these models are presented. The characteristic function of the gradient of the score is obtained for normal connected models, thus, enabling the study of maximum likelihood estimators. A special case with diagonal covariance matrix is studied.
